Sketch Groupshow
I have three drawings in this show, two of which I have not yet posted here yet. From the release:
Sketch is a group exhibition where the artist is asked to draw or crop a larger drawing into an 8-inch square to isolate and reveal details within the artwork. Subtleties are magnified. Viewers peer into the thought process that is sometimes second nature to the artist—the intuitive composition, color relationships, and purposeful lines on paper. Sketch explores the art of observing, thinking, and mark-making on paper.

Already February?
Wow I missed all of January huh? Almost all! My less creative freelance has been active and has left less time to draw. I'm getting back to posting and drawing - here is a start.

Then and Now: The Little Model.
It's pretty awesome to draw this guy since he is the only little person I have seen model. I've only drawn him once before and actually almost missed the opportunity. This time around, I was very pleased when I saw he would be working the session.
The more recent drawing is up top and the red oil pastel drawing below is from two years ago. Seems that I haven't made much progress in between but I'm hoping at another chance to get a better likeness of him soon. I'm trying to determine whether I made his head too small the first time around or too big this time. I just hope I get a better drawing of him before another two years pass!

Painting: Stink Eye Polly
![]() |
| 8"x10", oil |
I painted this quick portrait of the Pollycat the other day from a fairly recent photo. The background actually isn't a solid dark, but I couldn't photograph it well enough. This is the second time I've painted her and the first, from some months back, can be seen on this Flickr page.

Yes, she can read.
Ok, maybe not read but she sure can hug a book to sleep. The book is Richard Schmid's Alla Prima. Containing everything Schmid knows about painting, the book is an awesome resource. I am finally reading it after years of having it sit in my wishlist.
Oi, how's that for a Polly shot?
Below are two recent life studies. The drawing of the female model is a pose that will be repeated next session but I'm still trying to decide whether or not I should continue. If there is an available seat with a nice view I might start from scratch.
